One of her favorite pop culture moments from 2025 was the hype around "6-7," she tells PEOPLE

"I am just so hyper-focused on this Gen Alpha lingo, and I'm gonna get it," she shares

Gen Alpha slang is transcending generations and has made its way to Oscar winner Zoe Saldaña.

While talking with PEOPLE about the things that stood out to her from 2025, Saldaña, 47, admits there's one phrase that’s been on her mind: 6-7.

When asked about her favorite pop culture moment from the past year, the actress says, “This whole 6-7 thing has been, oh God, an absolute anomaly. I am just so hyper-focused on this Gen Alpha lingo, and I'm gonna get it.”

The meme seemingly stemmed from the song "Doot Doot (6 7)" by Skrilla that features the recurring lyric, “6-7.” Despite having no clear meaning aside from rhythmic repetition, NBA player LaMelo Ball is often associated with the meme, as he stands an impressive 6 feet, 7 inches.

The phrase has been hard to avoid on TikTok, with users making both intentional and unintentional references, ultimately working its way into everyday conversations. The trend proved its staying power in October 2025, when Dictionary.com chose "6-7" as the word of the year.

However, “6-7” isn’t the only slang that Saldaña has been trying to rack her brain around.

The Gen X actress, who has three Gen Alpha children, has also started using the word "aura," which refers to someone's "it factor" or effortless coolness.

“But, every time I think that I'm preserving my aura, that's when I'm told that I lost it,” the Avatar actress jokingly shares.

However, internet personality and influencer Druski might be one of the people helping Saldaña better understand internet lingo, and even further, help her lean more into her comedic side.

The Emilia Pérez actress is starring in a new T-Mobile advertising spot with Druski and actor Harvey Guillén around T-Mobile’s new 15-minute switch experience, which lets customers switch carriers in just 15 minutes.

Saldaña tells PEOPLE that Druski has been helping her learn how to improvise for the funny advertisement.

“Sometimes, if I just lean heavily and solely on the lines, then I leave very little space for improvisation or catching anything that may occur that is not even planned," she shares. "It's those moments that are absolutely special, and Druski does it so beautifully."

"Whatever's happening, he will go in whatever direction the scene or the moment may go, and that's kind of awesome,” the Guardians of the Galaxy actress adds.

Their T-Mobile ad will premiere on Jan. 3.
