*The View** *cohost Sara Haines paused the latest episode of the show's companion podcast after breaking down in tears over an emotional memory of her father.

During a discussion on *Behind the Table* with *View* producer Brian Teta about the talk show's Wednesday edition (which featured an interview with Mindy Kaling about living a healthy life so she can provide for her family), Haines cried as she recounted a bit of advice her dad gave to her about living in the moment.

Haines and Teta broke down a phenomenon called "destination addiction, a preoccupation with the idea that happiness is in the next place, the next job, with the next partner" in life.**

"That hit me hard, because I thought, I'm well aware that we're living the good old days," Haines, 48, said. "My dad said that to my sister. It's about 10 years ago, she was making a move, she was really upset, she lived closer to my parents, and she was leaving. My dad got a little choked up when he said, 'You're doing exactly what you're supposed to be doing.'"

Haines' voice cracked as she began crying over what that quote meant to her with regard to her own family, which includes husband Max Shifrin and their three children.

"There's tissues on the side," Teta said, as Haines continued, "She said, 'I don't want to leave you guys,' and he said, 'Susan, you're making your good old days.' And I thought, how can they be good without my mom and dad? But what he was saying is, you're in that chapter, this is it."

Haines added that the quote "sat with me" and grounds her in moments of struggle.

"I'm always like, wait, if I'm in the good old days, whenever I feel a tension or a lack of appreciation or I'm looking forward, which happens, it's normal, all day long, every day, you stop and you look around and you say, this normal will change," said Haines. "And that's the promise of life is temporary for better and worse. The highs will be followed by lows, the lows will be followed by highs. That is a promise."

Haines' father also made headlines in early 2025, when she called her father "hot" four times live on *The View*.

"My friends, my whole life talked about my hot dad and [our *View* producer] Brian thinks it's weird," Haines said, before the camera cut to a shot of Teta. "No, because I'm not blind," Haines continued. "I'm not attracted to him, he's just hot. I can see him."
