It got to be so hot that "I did not have a single functioning brain cell," joked the actor

Robert Pattinson almost couldn't take the heat of Dune: Part Three.
In an interview with IndieWire published Monday, Nov. 3, the Die My Love actor, 39, spoke about how the high temperature made him unable to think.
“When I was doing Dune it was so hot in the desert that I just couldn’t question anything,” he said. “And it was so relaxing, like my brain actually wasn’t operating. I did not have a single functioning brain cell. And I was just listening to [director] Denis [Villeneuve], ‘Whatever you want!' ”
Asked if he is playing a villain in the sequel, Pattinson said, “Yes.” (While not much is known about the Twilight star’s role, he’s said to be playing a character called Scytale, according to Deadline.)
Pattinson will be joining fellow new cast members Nakoa-Wolf Momoa and Ida Brooke, who are playing the twin children of Paul (Timothée Chalamet) and Chani (Zendaya), Variety previously reported.

Chalamet and Zendaya will be returning alongside Jason Momoa, Josh Brolin, Florence Pugh, Rebecca Ferguson and Anya Taylor-Joy. Directed by Denis Villeneuve, the film is based on Frank Herbert's books.
The first Dune movie was released in 2021, while the second came out in 2022.
Pattinson isn’t the only cast member who has commented on the Dune franchise's extreme heat.
Austin Butler, who played Feyd-Rautha in Dune: Part Two, told Entertainment Weekly in February 2024: “It was 110 degrees and so hot.”
“I had the bald cap on, and it was between two soundstages that were just these gray boxes of 200-foot walls and sand. It became like a microwave,” he continued. “There were people passing out from heat stroke. And that was just my first week.”

Zendaya also told W Magazine that she suffered from heat stroke after not drinking water to prevent her from needing the bathroom, which was “far away,” explaining that she needed “at least 10 minutes to get out of the costumes.”
Pattinson's upcoming movie The Drama also stars Zendaya and is set to be released in April, while Die My Love with Jennifer Lawrence is in theaters this Friday, Nov. 7.
