Rachel Zoe is opening up about why she decided to swap her wedding band for a "divorce ring" after splitting from her husband.

The fashion designer and Bravo star, 54, made an appearance on Tuesday, Feb. 10's episode of TODAY with Jenna & Sheinelle to discuss the diamond ring that she purchased after she filed for divorce from her husband, Rodger Berman.

"It's like a freedom ring," she explained, showing off her ring that features a giant oval diamond in the center flanked by two smaller stones.

"I just think... why do women have to wait their whole lives to get a ring because they're engaged?" the new Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star questioned. "Why can't they just have a ring that's either, 'OK, I'm divorced. I'm free. I'm widowed. I'm single.' "

"And don't get me wrong, I love men. I love love," Zoe added. "This is not like...anti-man in any way. I love men and good men."

"By wearing this, I call it my freedom ring," the fashion designer continued. "It's just to [say]...why does this have to be for only getting engaged? I don't understand that. I think we have to change the narrative around it. And, as we were talking about it, you need a ring."

"...Why wait? Buy the diamond now," host Jenna Bush Hager chimed in.

Zoe previously shared a close-up look at her "divorce ring," custom-made by Ring Concierge, which she commissioned after filing for divorce from her husband of 26 years in July 2025 — 10 months after they first announced their separation.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star originally debuted the accessory mid-December, writing on her Instagram Stories, “A divorce ring of my dreams...I could die!!!!!” per Bravo.

During her conversation on TODAY, she also shared that the design was inspired by her sons, who helped her pick out the diamonds and platinum band.

"He picked the stones," she said of her younger son, Kaius. "And he said, 'Mommy, you be the big one. And me and Sky are on each side beside you.' "

This isn't the first time Zoe has incorporated her love for fashion, particularly jewelry, into her family life.

The RHOBH received a "push present" from Berman — who worked with celebrity jewelry designer Neil Lane on a nearly 10-carat cushion-cut diamond ring with smaller diamonds in a platinum setting — when she gave birth to Skyler.

“Rodger wanted to surprise Rachel with something romantic — and huge,” Lane told PEOPLE of the design at the time. “I knew she’s wanted a cushion cut forever. It was their first baby and she’s been working so hard that Rodger wanted to do something very special. Rachel was thrilled and hasn’t taken it off since!”

Zoe and Berman tied the knot in 1998 after having met as students at George Washington University in 1991. They were together for 18 years before they had their first son, Skyler, in 2011. Their second child, Kaius, was born on Dec. 22, 2013.

Since her split, Zoe has been candid about life since filing for divorce and speaking out for women going through breakups.

“I’m really trying to help as many women as possible,” she told PEOPLE in her first-in-depth interview following the breakup. “I mean, probably at least 30% of the women in my life are going through a separation or a divorce. The question I kept getting asked and still get asked is: ‘Why am I so okay coming out of a relationship that really transcended my entire adult life?’ It's because I'm independent — financially, professionally and socially. I think that there isn't enough emphasis put on the importance of that.”

"You have to have your own things to wake up for every day," the celebrity stylist added. "I think because of that, when I made the decision to leave my marriage, it was like, okay, next. No matter what life throws at you, you have to be able to stand up on your own. You just have to.”
