Tense family dynamics drive the drama in Sheriff Country.

A spinoff of Fire Country, the new CBS series premiered in October 2025. It follows Sheriff Mickey Fox (Morena Baccarin), a tough, no-nonsense law enforcement officer in the small town of Edgewater, Calif. However, criminals in Edgewater often pose less of a challenge for Mickey than the stormy conflicts at home: Her relationship with her daughter, Skye (Amanda Arcuri), is unpredictable and fraught.

Adding to the strain is Mickey’s father, Wes (W. Earl Brown), a former convict running an off‑grid marijuana-growing operation in the nearby mountains. His choices force Mickey to constantly balance protecting her family with upholding the law.

Off-screen, Baccarin is juggling work and raising three children, whom she shares with her husband, fellow actor Ben McKenzie. When her oldest child, son Julius, was 4 years old, she reflected on going back to set shortly after his birth.

"I felt exhausted and scared to go back to work. I wanted to spend every second with him," she wrote on Instagram in June 2018. "This one goes out to all the moms out there who feel the constant pull between work and children. There are no right answers."

When Baccarin hangs up Mickey's sheriff uniform, she goes home to a full house.

The actress welcomed her first child, son Julius Setta Chick, in October 2013, with her then-husband, Austin Chick. The pair, who ultimately went their separate ways in 2015, share joint custody of Julius.

A year later, Baccarin gave birth to a daughter, Frances Laiz Setta Schenkkan, with McKenzie. The couple wed in 2017, and their son, Arthur, arrived in March 2021.

“It’s wonderful to watch him every day with our kids,” Baccarin told PEOPLE in April 2018 of McKenzie. “I couldn’t ask for a better partner.”

Christopher Gorham, who portrays Mickey's ex-husband, Travis, is also a dad of three.

After marrying in 2000, Gorham and his wife, actress Anel Lopez, went on to welcome their sons, Lucas and Ethan, in 2001 and 2003, respectively, and their daughter, Jamie, in 2009.

When Lucas was 9 years old, he was diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome, Gorham told Different & Able. Gorham has since become an advocate for autism awareness.

"I don't think of [Lucas] as my son with Asperger's. I think of him as my son," he told the organization. "He's not wrong. He's not broken. He is who he is. We, as his parents, are going to do our best — as we do with all our kids — to give him the best shot at having the best life he can."

Michele Weaver, who plays Deputy Cassidy, will welcome a new addition to her family very soon.

The actress is currently expecting her second child with her husband of nearly five years. The couple, who wed in December 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic, welcomed their first child, a daughter, in March 2023.

Weaver has chosen to keep both her husband’s and daughter’s names private.

Like his character on the show, Brown is a girl dad.

He shares his daughter, Anna, with his wife, Carrie Paschall, whom he's been married to since July 1989.

Brown and Paschall raised their only child in Burbank, Calif. However, Anna now lives in Portland, Ore., with her husband and runs a vintage clothing brand.

Fire Country star Max Thieriot, who also plays Mickey’s nephew in Sheriff Country, shares two sons with his wife, Lexi Murphy.

They welcomed their oldest, Beaux, in December 2015, and Maximus arrived in January 2018.

Thieriot has shared many memorable moments with his sons over the years, including when Beaux visited the set of Fire Country in October 2022 — a day he called “pretty special” on Instagram.
