The second season of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder ends on a far darker note than the first.

Premiering on Netflix on May 27, the latest installment of teenage sleuth Pippa ā€œPipā€ Fitz-Amobi (Emma Myers)’s adventures is based on the second book in Holly Jackson’s trilogy series, Good Girl, Bad Blood.

Several storylines from season 1 are wrapped up in season 2, including Max (Henry Ashton)’s trial for the rape of his classmates Becca Bell (Carla Woodcock) and Nat de Silva (Jessica Webber) and the unresolved tension between Cara (Asha Banks) and Pip after Pip’s investigation landed Cara’s father in prison.

The main focus of season 2 centers on a new mystery, however, with Pip determined to solve the disappearance of Connor (Jude Morgan-Collie)’s big brother, Jamie (Eden H. Davies), who is set to be a lead witness in the case against Max.

So how does A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder season 2 end? Keep reading for everything to know about the shocking finale.

The second season of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder ends on a cliffhanger.

After solving the mystery of Jamie’s disappearance and fighting to save Stanley Forbes (Misia Butler)’s life, Pip returns home from Stanley’s funeral to find her window ajar and her papers strewn across the floor.

Her computer is also slightly open, and when she lifts it, she finds a threatening message repeated across the screen: ā€œWho will look for you when you’re the one who disappears?ā€ The note is similar to others Pip has received throughout the season, but its author remains unclear, leaving the door open for a third season of the show.

Pip is visibly shaken by the note, and paired with the PTSD she is still experiencing in the wake of Stanley’s death, the show’s leading lady does not appear to be in a good place.

What happens to Jamie?

Jamie’s whereabouts are revealed in the show’s final episode.

After becoming wrapped up in a catfishing scheme with a woman named Layla Mead, whom he met on a dating app, Jamie is discovered to have been locked up in the bathroom of Stanley’s house.

As Stanley explains to Pip, Jamie attempted to kill him at Layla’s behest. Stanley got the better of him, however, and locked Jamie up in his bathroom.

Surprisingly, the two men forged a friendship, with Stanley keeping Jamie comfortable and talking with him about his life. They come to an agreement that Jamie will stay with Stanley and work with him to find out Layla’s true identity.

Following Stanley’s death, Jamie is given a second chance, rediscovering his passion for music and sparking a new relationship with Nat.

Who is Child Brunswick?

Child Brunswick is an alias for a young boy named Jack Brunswick who was forced to help his father, Scott Brunswick, murder six children by selecting the victims and luring them into Scott’s van.

After testifying against his father and serving five years of a custodial sentence, Child enters into a witness protection program and is given a new identity as Stanley Forbes.

Pip is able to identify Child as local golf club security guard Stanley after recognizing similarities between him and an old photo of Scott, who was killed in prison.

Who is Layla Mead?

The catfish, Layla, is revealed to actually be Pip’s new neighbor Charlie Green (Jack Rowan). Charlie has long been seeking revenge against Child/Stanley for the death of his twin sister, Emily Nowell, a.k.a. the final 8-year-old victim selected by Stanley for his father Scott.

For years, Charlie has moved from town to town, following internet rumors about Stanley's potential whereabouts.

In each new place, Charlie pretends to be Layla, hoping to ensnare an unsuspecting Stanley into his web of deceit. This time, though, he ensnares Jamie, whom he recruits to carry out his plans of revenge through emotional manipulation and threats of harm to Jamie’s high school crush, Nat.

Stanley, a.k.a. Child, is shot by Charlie after Pip uncovers his identity and unwittingly leads Charlie straight to him.

Charlie flees the scene and Pip makes every effort to save Stanley, putting pressure on his wounds and trying to keep him conscious, dragging his body away from the flames after Charlie sets the place on fire. Still, Stanley dies.

Pip organizes a funeral for him and asks her own loved ones to attend, but the ceremony is interrupted by the discovery of a malicious graffiti message on a nearby building reading, ā€œChild killer burn in hell Child Brunswick.ā€

The graffiti has presumably been left by Max as payback for the graffiti that Pip left on his door that read, ā€œRapist I will get you.ā€

What does Stanley's death mean for Pip?

Pip is deeply affected by Stanley’s death and Charlie’s subsequent escape from police custody.

Not only does she carry the guilt of having accidentally exposed Stanley's identity to Charlie, she experiences severe PTSD.

Loud noises remind her of her own screams and the gunshots fired from Charlie’s gun. When Pip looks down at her hands, she often sees Stanley’s blood and has a panic attack upon finding the graffiti near Stanley’s grave.

Though she has the support of her family, Ravi and Cara, Pip is still struggling, both mentally and emotionally, at the end of season 2.

What happens to Max?

Max is allowed to walk free, having been found not guilty at his rape trial, and appears to return to his charmed life.

His innocence is challenged only by Pip, who uploads his confession to her podcast.

In the final episode of the season, Max taunts Pip on her way to Stanley’s funeral as his companion, a young blonde, laughs and drinks wine.

Who is threatening Pip?

It is unclear who is threatening Pip and why, though Max’s contentious relationship with her makes him a prime suspect.

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder has yet to be renewed for season 3.

If the series is continued by Netflix, it is likely to follow the plot of the third novel in Jackson’s trilogy, As Good As Dead, which further explores Pip’s struggle with PTSD and the search for the stalker that has been leaving her threatening notes.
