- The team announced Kneeland's death Thursday in an emotional Instagram post.
- "Marshawn was a beloved teammate and member of our organization," the team said.
Rising NFL star and Dallas Cowboys player Marshawn Kneeland has died at age 24, the late athlete's team and agent announced on Thursday morning.
"It is with extreme sadness that the Dallas Cowboys share that Marshawn Kneeland tragically passed away this morning," the Cowboys' wrote in a statement posted to their official Instagram account.**
The team added that "Marshawn was a beloved teammate and member of our organization" and that the organization's "thoughts and prayers regarding Marshawn are with his girlfriend Catalina and his family."
A cause of death for the 24-year-old defensive end was not immediately available.

His agent, Jonathan Perzley, also confirmed the news on Instagram, writing he was "shattered to confirm that my client and dearest friend Marshawn Kneeland passed away last night. I watched him fight his way from a hopeful kid at Western Michigan with a dream to being a respected professional for the Dallas Cowboys. Marshawn poured his heart into every snap, every practice, and every moment on the field. To lose someone with his talent, spirit, and goodness is a pain I can hardly put into words."
News of Kneeland's death came just days after the player, who wore No. 94, scored his first NFL touchdown for the Texas team on primetime TV, as the Dallas Cowboys faced off against the Arizona Cardinals on *Monday Night Football*.

Underneath the Cowboys' post, the Texas Rangers MLB team's account shared words of support: "Sending our thoughts and prayers to the entire Cowboys organization and the Kneeland family."
Another fan commented, "His first TD was Monday and now he's gone. Wow. So very sad."
Kneeland — who was born and raised in Michigan — began his NFL career in 2024, when he was a second-round pick for the Dallas Cowboys in that year's draft.

Before joining the NFL, Kneeland played for the Broncos football team at Western Michigan University from 2019-2023.

In his last game, Kneeland recovered a blocked punt in the end zone for his first-ever NFL touchdown in the Cowboys' 27-17 loss to the Cardinals on Monday night.
During his career, Kneeland played in 18 games (four starts) across the 2024 and 2025 seasons, recording 26 tackles, four quarertback hits, and one sack.
